Parent Site Representative Meetings & Parent Book Club |

GATE Parent Site Representative Meetings & Parent Book Club |

This year our GATE Parent Site Representative Meetings will host a parent book club open to all interested community members.

Our Book Club 2016 Selection is “Mindset: The New Psychology of Success” by Carol Dweck. Mindset is a simple idea discovered by world-renowned Stanford University psychologist Carol Dweck in decades of research on achievement and success—a simple idea that makes all the difference. Please join us as we explore this text and discuss its application in the education of our community’s children.

GATE Parent Site Rep. Meetings/Book Club will be held on the following dates at IUSD’s Learning Center, Room 1, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. These meetings are intended for adult attendance only. Childcare will not be available.

Chapters 1-2 Discussion: Tuesday, November 8th
Chapters 3-4 Discussion: Wednesday, January 18th
Chapters 5-6 Discussion: Tuesday, February. 28th
Chapters 7-8 Discussion: Tuesday, April 18th

Book Club Discussions will be held during the first hour of the meeting. The last 30 minutes will be reserved for general parent site representative discussion topics.
The GATE office will provide each “Parent Site Representative” with a copy of the book. If you are a site rep. and intend to participate, please email Coordinator, Kara Rydman, to receive your copy. All other parents can obtain a Mindset Book at your local library or any book retailer. This book is also available in electronic format.

In advance of each meeting, I will send out questions for discussion to guide our time together. We look forward to engaging in this first GATE Book Club experience together.
