Registration for the OLSAT, an optional GATE criteria measure

The Irvine Unified School District conducts an annual Multiple Criteria Measure screening process for all students in 3rd through 7th grades to identify students for placement in the GATE program. The screening process takes place automatically for students within the school day and over the course of the school year. The Otis Lennon School Ability Test (OLSAT) is an optional, fee-based assessment. If administered by IUSD, it will be considered as one measure of achievement within the screening process. The OLSAT measures a student's verbal, nonverbal, and quantitative abilities that relate to a student's academic success in school. Students do not need to take the OLSAT to be identified for the GATE program. If your family is interested in registering for the OLSAT, please visit this link: OLSAT Registration. Further information regarding the OLSAT and the GATE screening process can be found on IUSD’s GATE website.

  3. Hi Kara, From the IUSD website it appears that OLSAT testing dates for 2018-2019 school year will be held in August of 2018 (08/07 – 08/08). My friend whose son will be in 3rd grade beginning August 2018 was looking for the test dates. In the past we have had testing dates approx. around 3 months after the beginning of 3rd grade school year. Hence wanted to confirm that testing will occur for 3rd graders before IUSD 3rd grade school begins. Appreciate your response.
